The Viro sugar factory is one of
the major exporters and the most profitable of food industry
companies. The factory has achieved a continuous growth in
business operations and in its profits since privatization in
2002, and in the last year reached a record in yields,
production and financial results. Due to its excellent operating
results, Viro has been awarded the Golden Kuna for three years
running now as the best large-size company in the
Virovitica-Podravina county.
Over 130 million kunas have been invested in new equipment in
the last four years, and Viro has become the most modern sugar
factory in Croatia. The latest investments in the production of
liquid sugar and packing equipment will provide us with even
higher competitiveness both in the Croatian and in foreign
markets. Viro is also the only sugar factory which has solved
the issues of ecological soundness, with a wastewater purifier
which already meets the conditions set for Croatian producers by
the European Union.
267 employees work at Viro. They receive 14 salary payments
yearly, free school books for their children, and rewards for
achievement of good operating results. More than 100 seasonal
workers are also employed at Viro annually.
In order to guarantee quality raw materials, we provide
professional and financial aid to our sub-contractors. In this
way the advice of 12 agronomy engineers employed in the factory
is available daily to our sub-contractors and they enjoy the
financing of sugar-beet production from seeds, fertilizers and
protection to harvesting. |
